The bench

The bench

My grandfather Chris, aged 16 (well, almost) and his parents in July 1926. The family is from Amsterdam and they spent their vacation in the Veluwe, a beautiful area in the east of the Netherlands. I was a bit curious about the bench with the inscription, since it seemed significant to them. I found out that it's actually a monument for the 25th anniversary of Mr. Pos, former chairman of the Dutch ANWB. The nature area Posbank was named after this monument. What I most like about the picture is my grandfather being so young and all dressed up.

This is a personal project with scenes from my family's photos drawn on vintage art catalogue pages. Although it's an art project with personal connotation, a lot of people can relate to the sweet and oftentimes funny scenes in those long-ago days.
